Tech talks
Scratch’s publisher, Scott, and Helena, met the Umia Beauty team: TX, Modi and Christina (not pictured) for lunch in London. They discussed how the Umia automation studio can offer endless options for nail design and colour customisation, and how nail artists across the globe can benefit from uploading their creations for others to choose. The team also revealed their plans for the brand in the UK and worldwide, and shared photos of fans of the device queuing to try it in various locations.
What we’re wearing...
An emerald green gel polish hue caught Helena’s eye at her most recent manicure appointment, and it was paired with a marble feature nail and touch of gold leaf, courtesy of Rebecca Ellis of @beautyby__beck, Dartford, Kent.
Jess chose the elegant Indigo shade from The GelBottle Inc for a seasonal nail finish, applied by Hazel Martin of Nail Creations by Hazel in Crawley, West Sussex.
A beauty-full show
The Scratch team exhibited at trade event, Salon Beauty, held at ExCel, London, last month. Jess manned the stand, offering visitors an exciting subscription deal, while Rebecca and Lilly chatted to nail industry icons, former Scratch columnists, readers and brand founders, documenting their antics on social media. Featured professionals were also papped: Kirsty Meakin posed with her Scratch cover image, while Umia co-founder, Modi Liu, was pictured with an article about the brand that featured in the October edition.
