20 years of Nailympia 2005-2024

Nailympia London: A phenomenal celebration of global nail artistry

Nailympia London once again proved to be a pivotal event in the nail industry, marking its 20th edition at the Salon Beauty exhibition, 13 & 14 October. The event wrapped up a stellar year for the global nail community and was the final stop in the 2024 series of competitions, celebrating innovation, creativity and exceptional skills around the world.

Nailympia has hosted six competitions this year, making its presence known globally. The event in Germany was overseen by Stefanie Lo Re; Mexico was under the guidance of Dafne Fernandez, and Vietnam was led by Damon Ho. The USA saw the competition flourish in partnership with the Premiere Show Group in Orlando and San Antonio, and these international competitions underscored the event’s global appeal, culminating in the highly anticipated London edition.

A showcase of talent & creativity

At the London event, competitors faced off in 19 categories, with 10 available for advance online entry and nine held live in the Salon Beauty arena. The contest saw an impressive turnout, with 165 competitors from 32 countries occupying 544 competition seats. Categories spanned a diverse range of nail artistry, allowing pros to showcase their expertise in both traditional and innovative techniques.

A distinguished panel of experts judged the categories, each celebrated for their contributions to the nail industry. Their collective knowledge ensured that the highest standards were upheld throughout the competition, and Nailympia continues to set the bar for global nail challenges, pushing competitors to reach new heights.

This year also marked a milestone for the event, which has seen me run Nailympia in London for two decades. It was once again an incredible experience to be among a superior panel of judges to score the nail skills. On a personal level, I have had one of the toughest years of my life, and being immersed in the atmosphere created by the international competitors has been a very healing experience for me.

Forget brand politics and personal conflicts; Nailympia is a safe and loving space where skills reign, and the nail is ‘king’. We are all working together to keep our industry alive and relevant, and to raise standards, awareness and education.

Looking ahead to 2025

As the 2024 season comes to a close, the nail industry looks to 2025 with optimism and excitement. Nailympia has become a vital platform for showcasing the creativity, skills and dedication that fuel the global nail community.

I’m so pleased that 20 years on, we are still working together with such synergy across the globe. Bring on 2025 and all the nail styling that this will bring to the fore. I love the Nailympia vibration, and long may it continue.

With its inclusive and inspiring environment, Nailympia London 2024 was not just a competition, but a celebration of the resilience and passion that define the nail industry. The event’s success ensures that Nailympia will remain at the forefront of the global beauty landscape for years to come.

“Nailympia is a safe and loving space where skills reign, and the nail is ‘king’. We are all working together to keep our industry alive, relevant, to raise standards, awareness and education.”
