My nail journey
I painted my nails and showed an aptitude for art from a young age, and view nail designs as miniature artworks that travel with you and give you confidence. My sister was a nail biter and by helping her to eliminate the habit, my professional nail journey began. I worked in salons and eventually established my own, Nails by Ellie. The space is bright, friendly and safe. It features colourful accents, crystals and a display of Stellar Gel gel polishes.
3 WORDS TO DESCRIBE MYSELF Artistic, optimistic and a perfectionist.
What makes me happy
I’m happy when I’m creating. I love experimenting with nail styles while watching a TV show on my iPad, and hand-burning patterns on hats. Getting out of the house, whether for a drive, day trip or travelling, always boosts my mood.

Career highlight
I started my own business at 22 years old in 2022. This led to me becoming Stellar Gel’s first brand ambassador last year.
Signature style
I hand-paint all of my designs. Stained glass nails are my favourite to create, as they challenge me and involve multiple techniques, such as colour blocking, isolated chrome and fine line work.
A day in my life
I start each day with a trip to Starbucks, before seeing an average of four clients. Once appointments are finished, I complete salon errands and respond to client messages. I finish the day by watching TV at home.

NAIL ART ADVICE
• Take your time: practice really does make perfect. The best way to learn is from your mistakes.
• Find high-quality products that are easy to work with and achieve great results.
• A smooth foundation sets you up for a great nail finish. Make sure the base you’re painting on has no lumps or bumps, as art will enhance these.
Social media tips
Social media success is like a lottery draw, and has been a learning experience for me. Posts that I thought would go viral haven’t, and vice versa. It’s important to be original and find a way to stand out. Photo quality also makes a huge difference.
My top tips are:
1. Post regularly: My content performs better when I post at least three times per week. 2. Schedule content: This makes consistent social media posting easier when life gets busy. 3. Engage with others: Like and comment on the pages of those who engage with you. Mutual support goes a long way. 4. Credit: Always tag your inspirations. This shows respect, can boost engagement and is greatly appreciated by other artists.
