Inside the factory

Go behind the scenes at Nghia Nippers in Vietnam with ALEX FOX, who explores the manufacturing process of nail tools

Nestled in lush green countryside just outside Ho Chi Minh City, Nghia Nippers Corporation stands out as a beacon of innovation and craftsmanship. This factory, surrounded by landscaped gardens showcasing a koi pond with waterfall, offers its employees a truly zen experience during break times, as they unwind from their precise and detailed tasks. Amidst this serene setting, well over 10,000 precision instruments are produced daily – from professional grade scissors and clippers to nippers, pushers and tweezers.

Nghia Nippers Corporation, a proud sponsor and supporter of Nailympia Vietnam 2024, invited some of the event’s judges on an exclusive factory tour. More than a wander around the space, it offered a glimpse into a company with a rich history and impressive global footprint. For over 40 years, Nghia Nippers has been producing 1.5 million instruments monthly, supplying to more than 50 countries. The company also boasts a US office and showroom in Garden Grove, California.

Sowing the seed of Nghia Nippers

What started on a mere 1.5 square metres of ground back in 1980 with a few nail tools, grew into a pioneering venture. Carving out a living for himself and his family, Nguyen Minh Tuan, driven by love and passion, established a small nail tool production facility named Nghia Saigon, the precursor to Nghia Nippers. The humble beginnings of Nghia Nippers reflect the dedication and vision of its founder, who transformed a small sharpening shop into a hugely successful global enterprise.

On 19 September 2000, Nghia Nippers Ltd was officially established, adhering to the ISO 9001: 2000 quality management system. By 2001, its products were being exported to the US market, thanks to the efforts of overseas Vietnamese personnel, who worked hard to get the brand established and gain global expansion. This period marked the transition from a local business to an international player in the nailcare industry.

By 2003, Nghia Nippers had captured 80% of the domestic market share and had a significant presence in international markets such as the USA, Australia, Canada, China, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and several European countries. This rapid expansion was driven by the management’s commitment to quality and innovation, ensuring that products meet the diverse needs of customers worldwide.

The company was equitised on 17 January 2008, marking a new phase of comprehensive development in production scale and product diversification. This move allowed Nghia Nippers to attract investment, enhance its production capabilities and expand its product range, cementing its position as a market leader. Wanting to stand tall in its industry, the team at Nghia Nippers set a Guinness World Record in 2016 for being the largest manufacturer of nail nippers and tools in Vietnam and Indochina. This recognition is a testament to the company’s relentless pursuit of excellence and its significant impact on the nailcare industry.

“TThe company’s commitment to quality and innovation has earned it a loyal customer base worldwide.”

Following this achievement, its current factory, equipped with modern production lines and advanced technology, opened in 2000. “The factory’s advanced processes and commitment to innovation allow Nghia Nippers to maintain its competitive edge in the global market,” relays a spokesperson for the company.

This marked the company’s largest scale operation to date. It was designed to open an airy space for employees inside the factory with acres of land, landscaped walkways and flora and fauna outside to allow staff to relax between shifts. Inside the gardens, a building was erected for the canteen, giving employees a feeling of value, wellbeing and a chance to unwind according to their needs.

Product potential

“As the owner of the largest factory in Southeast Asia, Nghia Nippers ensures a robust production capacity and timely supply to the market,” explains the company spokesperson. “The factory employs modern and advanced technologies in all stages, from heat treatment to sharpening, ensuring high durability and precision. This technological prowess enables us to produce tools that meet the highest standards of craftsmanship.”

On the subject of precision, they continue: “Every product detail is meticulously crafted with high accuracy, for the optimum user experience. Nghia also provides bespoke services, offering customers the opportunity to have their unique styles and logos branded onto the instruments. This personalised approach has made the instruments extremely popular among professional nail technicians and beauty enthusiasts. The team adheres to stringent quality control measures, following the ISO 9001: 2015 standards. The use of quality, raw materials sourced from Japan and Korea further enhances the durability and longevity of the products, making them a reliable choice for professionals. With a comprehensive distribution network, Nghia’s products are available in over 50 countries. The company’s commitment to quality and innovation has earned it a loyal customer base worldwide.”

Keen to be a leading provider of beauty and healthcare products in Vietnam, and of nail tools worldwide, Nghia Nippers is committed to delivering high-quality products and services. It does this owing to strong company values, and a focus on quality, care and social responsibility. Nghia Nippers’ mission is to supply nail products, nail equipment, beauty and healthcare products according to international standards.
