SCRATCH
I write this month’s editorial having returned from The Scratch Stars Party, at which the UK&I nail industry was celebrated, and talent was recognised, via the Scratch Stars Awards. The sell-out event was fantastic, with stunning London venue, The Underglobe, providing the perfect premises for partying.
For 12 years, the team and I have sought to raise the profile of the nail sector via the Scratch Stars Awards, creating a fair and transparent entry and judging process, so that salons, individuals and educators can shine. Our industry has often been overshadowed by the hair, make-up and spa realms, however each year, I am delighted to see more nail pros and teams seizing the opportunity to be rewarded for their skills and customer care. If you missed The Scratch Stars Party, we’ll reveal its happenings in next month’s issue, but you can view the event photos on our website and award winners from page 26.
In the spirit of celebrating the nail sector, this issue of the magazine features a salon marking its 10th anniversary, Nailympia Mexico 2024 champions, and a painter who loves polish as a medium so much, that she uses it on canvases to create intriguing artworks. We also delve into the features of builder gel, and the creative process behind fantasy and extreme nail styles.
This industry truly is rich in colour and talent, and I love immersing in its many channels and learning about the trailblazers within it. May we continue to elevate pros in print, online and on social media, so that talent can be recognised and success rewarded.
Until next month,
