Nails and networking
Lilly travelled to Manchester for The Nail Desk Co’s first networking event. The online community was founded by nail tech, Olivia Annice of @oliviaannicenailartist, who sought to create an encouraging space for nail pros, and the event invited like-minded techs to learn, mingle and form an industry support network. Welcomed with a goody bag, attendees enjoyed a packed schedule of guest speakers, including a representative from nail brand, HONA, and Alison McCall, a nail pro & photographer who shared top tips for perfecting nail pics. Lilly took to the stage to present the story of Scratch, and detail the ways we excite, inspire and inform techs. She also shared how pros can utilise our offerings to build their profiles.
Community members left inspired, and Lilly invited them to participate in a fun video for TikTok.

A starry, starry night
We had so much fun at The Scratch Stars Party in London on 21 July, as it offered the chance to chat to readers and followers in person, and celebrate finalists and winners in the Scratch Stars Awards 2024. Stunning venue, The Underglobe, provided the perfect setting for an industry party, and was lit up in signature Scratch pink, with star-themed balloons and decorations.
Helena hosted the event alongside DJ and former Rugby Union star, James Haskell, and we enjoyed Scratch-themed cocktails, canapés and pick ‘n’ mix sweets. The dancefloor was packed, as partygoers danced to live performances from UK garage music legends, Shola Ama and DJ Luck & MC Neat. Check out more snaps from the event and an insight into the evening from page 52.
Fashion (and nails) in motion
Lilly headed to the V&A Museum, London, to watch a runway show as part of the Fashion In Motion programme, which brings catwalk culture to the museum’s audience. Creative director, Adebayo Oke-Lawal of Orange Culture, showed 24 catwalk looks, and representatives from Scratch Stars Nail Team of the Year 2024, Glitterbels, provided the nail styles to complement the bold garments. Led by head of education, Charli Jepson, the team created press-on nails to Adebayo’s brief: stiletto-shaped for female models and short, square-shaped for male models. The finish for all was an ombré style, created using red-orange acrylic powder, Señorita.

What we’re wearing...
Helena chose an alternative French style over builder gel enhancements at her most recent nail appointment with Rebecca Ellis of Beauty By Beck, Dartford. Deep pink and golden glittery swirls were painted for a fun, everyday look.
Rebecca opted for a sparkly gel polish manicure to help her nails shine at The Scratch Stars Party. She headed to Orpington salon, Trendy Beauty, where therapist, Bianca, used OPI products to create an on-brand pink style.
