Scratch Stars Awards’
nine technical and artistic categories for 2026 showcased their nail skills and professionalism in the bid to win a
Scratch Star
. You’ll have to wait until
The Scratch Stars Party
in London on 5 July, to find out who placed first in each category, but I can tell you that the talents demonstrated were awe-inspiring. Competing, at any level, is a huge undertaking – and one that requires dedication and bravery. It’s not easy to work under time constraints or the watchful eyes of judges, but the finalists composed themselves to give their all. Check out photos from the day from page 24.
Events like the Scratch Stars Awards practical judging day make me proud to be part of this industry, so it’s heartbreaking to see when the sector is undervalued: a topic being discussed a lot on social media recently. Nail professionals are beacons of knowledge, care and creativity, and being able to offer not only prescriptive nailcare services, but a comfortable client experience, deserves recognition and respect.
From the neurodivergent nail tech providing a calm and inclusive environment (see page 72), to the artist whose work was featured in an exhibition (turn to page 36), Scratch serves to celebrate all who make this industry so special. This includes our incredible columnists, who take time to share their expertise each month. Whether you’re a nail newbie or seasoned pro, there is always something to learn, so immerse in their insight throughout this issue.
Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle. You bring skill, passion and care to this sector, and for that you should be proud.
