OPI has upgraded its Infinite Shine formula: presenting 70 shades that offer gel-like shine & durable wear with easy removal. CALLIE ILEY finds out more…

Does your client seek a nail finish that lasts longer than traditional lacquer – yet can be removed at their leisure? Infinite Shine is an ideal solution, boasting up to 11 days wear and able to be swiftly wiped away with OPI’s Expert Touch Lacquer Remover.

Launched by OPI in 2015 to sit between its lacquer and GelColor lines, the Infinite Shine formula has had a 2024 upgrade, now featuring 70 colours – including 42 shades exclusive to the Infinite Shine range.

Its pre-cured gel technology locks onto nails, boasting a durable, high-shine and scratch-resistant finish, and the formula is vegan-friendly. The packaging has also had a makeover, with Infinite Shine shades housed in a bottle with a dark chrome cap and clean design.

“For the past 40 years, OPI has been known for its high-quality formulas,” shares Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI co-founder & brand ambassador. “Our R&D team is at the forefront of this; researching and creating the next generation of products, and they’ve done it again with this latest iteration of Infinite Shine. The flawless gel-like finish has improved durability and unbeatable shine. It’s what’s needed for clients with busy, multi-hyphenated lives.”

The rainbow of Infinite Shine shades includes crèmes, neutrals and metallics, alongside hues with shimmer, glitter and sheer effects, complemented by Infinite Shine Base Coat and Top Coat. “I am a committed wearer and professional user of OPI Infinite Shine, and love the variety of shades available,” comments Belinda Price, OPI UK&I education manager. “My favourite shades in the range are Vamp Champ, Raisin’ The Bar and Megawatt Hot.

Belinda Price

“Clients enjoy the quick-drying and long-wearing finish,” Belinda continues. “I wear Infinite Shine on my toenails due to its staying power and ease of removal.”

“The flawless gel-like finish has improved durability and unbeatable shine. It’s what’s needed for clients with busy, multi-hyphenated lives.”

Application advice

The three-step process: application of Infinite Shine Base Coat, followed by two coats of the chosen colour and Top Coat, must be adhered to following OPI prep procedures to ensure a long-lasting finish. Bottles should be mixed well before use.

“To begin the mani or pedi service, I remove any existing lacquer, then file and shape the nails before applying OPI ProSpa Cuticle Exfoliating Cream and performing nail prep,” Belinda shares. “I wipe the nails thoroughly with OPI NAS 99 and apply OPI Bond Aid, followed by Infinite Shine Base Coat.

“Infinite Shine can be layered to create custom colour finishes and nail art, but thick layers can increase dry time,” Belinda adds. “Fewer layers may affect wear. For best results, use two layers of colour with the OPI Infinite Shine Base Coat and Top Coat.”

STEP 1 Apply one coat of Infinite Shine Base Coat.
STEP 2 Apply two coats of the chosen Infinite Shine lacquer shade.
STEP 3 Apply one coat of Infinite Shine Top Coat.

Pricing points

“I recommend including standard nail lacquer in pricing for manicure and pedicure treatments, and offering the option of an Infinite Shine or GelColor upgrade, with each costing a few pounds extra,” comments Belinda. “Alternatively, techs and salons could consider using Infinite Shine for all lacquer treatments to grow customer loyalty with its long-wearing, high-performance colour payoff.”

Client files

“I love the quality of the OPI Infinite Shine formula,” shares Carol Knee, a regular manicure client. “It lasts longer and dries faster than standard polish, while boasting a glossy, gel-like finish with easy removal.

“My job involves a lot of time working on a laptop, so the hard-wearing nature of Infinite Shine means my colour doesn’t chip from typing, as it has done with regular nail polish. My nails maintain a perfect finish, which I notice when I’m waving my hands around on Zoom meetings!”

OPI Infinite Shine Base Coat, Top Coat and colours are £8.90 + VAT/RRP £17.50 each and available via www.opi.com
