Summer is in full swing, and so are nail competitions and events that bring our creative, vibrant community together. Last month, I attended the
Premiere Orlando
trade show in Florida, where I reconnected with nail names from across the globe – some of whom I hadn’t seen for over a decade. While technology has its benefits and allows us to communicate quickly and easily, nothing compares to the joy of catching up with an industry icon face-to-face or the thrill of watching nail stylists compete live in an arena.
It’s these feelings that led Scratch to launch Scratch Social networking events, and the team hosted its second gathering after the first day of Premiere Orlando. It welcomed 200 nail pros and brand representatives, and we announced the Season One champion of the North America’s Star Nail Artist contest. I was delighted to meet so many of the shortlisted pros, who had been on their competition journeys with Scratch since October 2024, and they were able to congratulate each other on their work and connect with judges and sponsors. It was a fantastic evening – and you can read all about it from page 16.
Also in this issue, we shine a spotlight on Nailympia Orlando winners, and share snapshots from a first-of-its-kind event in Shanghai: The Avant-Garde Global Nail Art Show. This showcase, conceived by Shanghai Muzer Cosmetics Co. Ltd, was a stunning spectacle of creativity and collaboration that highlighted the talents of nail professionals worldwide. Watching models tell a story on a runway through nail art, and seeing the audience open-mouthed in admiration, delivered unforgettable moments: ones that only live events can deliver.
The next big industry event is The Scratch Stars Party, taking place on Sunday 6 July at The Underglobe, London. Over 300 Scratch readers, nail brand owners and industry friends will gather to celebrate the sector and be the first to know the winners of the Scratch Stars Awards 2025. I love hosting this event, which is now in its 13th year, as I get to witness the camaraderie that makes the nail sector so great, and reward the creativity, passion and hard work of individuals and businesses. I hope to see many of you at the party in person, or at an industry gathering soon.
Stay connected!
