A glittering Gala

Immerse in the magic of the first Glitterbels Nailist Gala: a dazzling event where nail pros were rewarded & the brand was celebrated

I t’s not often that an invitation for a black tie event pops into my inbox, but for the first Glitterbels Nailist Gala , I excitedly shopped online for a gown, booked a hotel and travelled to Stoke-on-Trent for what promised to be an exceptional evening celebrating the brand’s nail pro community.

Alex Fox & Helena Biggs.

The event was held to recognise esteemed members of the Nailist programme: a support system and rewards scheme that launched in early 2025, and offers business courses and perks for members. I attended the Gala with Scratch co-founder & Nailympia global director, Alex Fox, and we vacated our taxi at Glitterbels HQ: a converted church akin to a wonderland, featuring fuchsia pink spotlights that lit up the November sky.

We made our way into the dreamy venue, each greeted with a glass of Champagne before being led into a space filled with nail techs in their finery. A saxophonist played while guests marvelled at Glitterbels products, voted for the best nails of the night and took part in a game to guess the number of items in a jar for a prize. The room buzzed with conversation and connections, serving up a taste of the Nailist community that Glitterbels has cultivated: one that feels close-knit, positive and kind.

‘‘ Each Nailist member is a crucial part of the Glitterbels family, and together we can achieve anything. ‘‘

Glitterbels co-founder, Annabel Maginnis, and creative brand manager, Ebony Shepherd.

With bubbles in hand, we were led into the main room: the Glitterbels training area that had been transformed into an awards banquet. The brand’s signature pink aesthetic was elevated to gala-level grandeur, with draped chairs, florals on tables and twinkling candlelight enhancing the magical atmosphere.

Alex and I were seated at a table with Glitterbels team members who hold 10 Scratch Stars Awards between them: company co-founder, Annabel Maginnis; head & deputy head of education, Charli Jepson and Jennie Nippard; educator, Danielle Brindley, and creative brand manager, Ebony Shepherd. We enjoyed a three-course meal before Charli and Jennie took to the stage for a fun-filled Q&A session, and a preview was given of upcoming product launches.

The heart of the evening was the Nailist Awards, hosted by Annabel and Ebony, who made their way onstage to rapturous applause. Annabel shared: “Our goals at Glitterbels are to elevate education, transform careers, boost confidence and support our community. I hope that those who need advice, want to level up their skills or simply want to talk to fellow professionals, have found a safe space within the Glitterbels Nailist programme: a place where they can explore, grow and receive the guidance that they need.

“Each Nailist member is a crucial part of the Glitterbels family, and together we can achieve anything. Tonight, at our first Nailist Gala, we celebrate these achievements – no matter how big or small.”

Six categories celebrated the talent and dedication shaping the Nailist community, and nominees featured seasoned professionals and rising stars. The delighted winners, who each received flowers, a Glitterbels gift and glass trophy, were revealed as:

Trendsetter of the Year – Lydia Parkinson

Most Loyal Customer – Charlotte Bono

Training Programme MVP – Nikita Kwiatkowski

Nails of the Night – Rebeca Dinescu

• Business of the Year – Shimmer & Glimmer Nails by Ieva

Nailist of the Year – Emily Beard

Following the awards, the DJ, saxophonist and large cart of pick ‘n’ mix sweets kept energies high, and the content captured ensured the memories made would last well beyond the evening.

Nailist of the Year – Emily Beard

“The Nailist of the Year award recognises creativity, passion, professionalism and excellence,” detailed Annabel Maginnis. “Emily not only pushes the boundaries of nail artistry, but inspires, leads and elevates everyone around her. She is a true ambassador for the nail community, and a shining example of talent, dedication and vision.”

Ebony Shepherd added: “Emily stands out as someone whose work, drive and spirit exemplify the best of what it means to be a nail artist. Her journey embodies passion, growth and commitment.

“The Nailist programme empowered her to turn her dream into reality, giving her the confidence, training and tools to launch her own business and deliver an exceptional service to every client. After completing multiple certifications and training with Glitterbels, Emily proudly uses only the brand’s products in her salon. She’s even transforming a caravan into a mobile salon – a dream she never thought possible. From a former primary teacher to a thriving nail technician, she’s proof that with belief and support, passion can become a profession.”

‘‘ The room buzzed with conversation and connections, serving up a taste of the Nailist community that Glitterbels has cultivated: one that feels close-knit, positive and kind. ‘‘

Training Programme MVP – Nikita Kwiatkowski

The Training Programme MVP title celebrates growth, drive and an unwavering passion for learning: qualities that define the best in the Nailist community,” detailed Charli Jepson. “Nikita is committed to developing her skills and has shown exceptional focus. She has embraced every opportunity to grow, and completed the most Nailist courses since the programme’s launch.”

Ebony Shepherd added: “Nikita has shown outstanding dedication to learning, completing 53 Nailist courses. Through hard work and dedication, she has strengthened her expertise and shown what it means to truly invest in personal and professional excellence.”

Business of the Year – Shimmer & Glimmer Nails by Ieva

“The winner of this title runs a business that has demonstrated growth and innovation, and offers exceptional experiences to clients,” explained Ebony Shepherd. “This award is about leadership, dedication and the ability to inspire both peers and clients.

“Shimmer & Glimmer Nails by Ieva sets a high industry standard and shows what’s possible when passion meets strategy.”

Trendsetter of the Year – Lydia Parkinson

“The world of nails is constantly evolving, and this category recognises a nail tech who has continually set standards of excellence with their techniques and designs,” shared Ebony Shepherd. “Lydia’s skills and commitment to creating trends has not only elevated her own craft, but inspired others to do the same.

“Lydia has been awarded for consistently great engagement with her audience, as well as showcasing creativity through a mix of nail photos, graphic quotes and authentic glimpses into her personality on social media.”

Most Loyal Customer – Charlotte Bono

“Charlotte is an extraordinary individual who has supported the Glitterbels brand with loyalty and dedication,” revealed Annabel Maginnis. “She placed her first order with Glitterbels in September 2018, and continues to show loyalty and genuine appreciation for the brand.”

Nails of the Night – Rebeca Dinescu

“This award celebrates creativity and styling, as well as originality and sheer talent,” detailed Annabel Maginnis. “Rebeca’s nail design was voted by Nailist Gala attendees as one that turned their heads.”
