Cutie-cals
Location: Solihull, West Midlands
Solihull salon, Cutie-cals, is the passion project of nail tech, Charlotte Walton, who is celebrating a decade of business success, creativity and client loyalty. “The salon building was once a newsagent’s and needed a complete renovation,” she recalls. “I took a huge risk to make it happen, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Cutie-cals aims to be a space of relaxation, with a ‘modern-luxe feel’. The décor combines ‘soft neutral tones with warm lighting and natural textures’. Charlotte notes: “Touches of greenery add a welcoming vibe, and the aesthetic is clean and calming, instantly making clients feel comfortable.”
The salon specialises in Calgel manicures and extensions, IBX treatments and OPI pedicures. “I have used Calgel for 17 years, and the brand has never let me down,” Charlotte says. As well as employing one other nail tech, the business owner leads a team of five beauty pros who offer facials, massages and make-up services. “Cutie-cals isn’t just a workspace – it’s a community,” she smiles.
Early in her career, Charlotte set herself goals to become a Calgel educator and run her own training academy. Last year, she took a significant step toward these ambitions by completing Level 3 AET training and launching Calgel courses.

The art of Nails – Nail artist
Location: Trowbridge, Wiltshire
Tina Annal began her career in 2014, converting various areas of her home into salon spaces. But, when her daughter flew the nest three years ago, the pro decided to set up a more practical premises for her business. “When the spare room became free, I transformed it into a beautiful space for my clients,” she recalls.
The art of Nails – Nail Artist is a relaxing space with a pink colour scheme and striking faux cherry blossom tree. A carefully curated collection of gel polishes, pigments and glitters is displayed on shelves and magnetic boards, alongside nail art inspiration. “It took years to build my collection, and I stay up-to-date with trends to ensure I can achieve all client requests,” Tina says.
The tech offers L&P acrylic and gel polish services, and specialises in nail art – a skill that ‘keeps clients coming back’. “I pride myself on the detail of my hand-painting, and love nothing more than having a tiny brush in my hand, working on a masterpiece,” Tina shares. Looking to the future, she is excited to pursue the worlds of educating and nail competitions. “My goal is to win a Scratch Star,” Tina smiles.
