Introducing Acrylic Plus from Halo: an advanced L&P system for time-pressed pros & competition enthusiasts

In the rapidly changing nail industry, evolution is key and brands need to constantly innovate and excite to keep up with the demands of clients and pros. For almost two decades, Pure Nails has been providing professional products to nail creatives, and the latest update to its popular Halo line is Acrylic Plus: developed with busy nail techs in mind.

Made in the UK, the HEMA-free system features primer and powders alongside monomers in a choice of two settings: medium and fast. “For nail techs working in a cool environment, competition arena or creating 3D art, the fast-setting monomer is advised,” shares Tina Liddle, head of education, product development & technical support advisor at Pure Nails. “For warmer environments, the medium-setting liquid allows techs more time to manipulate the product on the nail for perfect application.”

Easy to work with, the Halo Acrylic Plus system is self-levelling. “Strong and long-lasting, nail professionals can create almost any extension style for their clients,” Tina continues. “The acid-free Acrylic Plus Primer creates a foundation for superb adhesion, minimising the risk of lifting. The range has been in development since 2023 and has launched with four versatile powders: Blush Pink, Cover Peach, Pure White and Clear to suit a variety of skin tones. The Pure White is ideal for French, baby boomer and 3D styles, and more colour powders are set to launch.

This 15ml primer provides a smooth and durable base for Acrylic Plus enhancements, to ensure long-lasting results.

Halo Acrylic Plus Powder

Available in Blush Pink, Clear, Cover Peach and Pure White, this fine acrylic powder helps create smooth, slick enhancements when used with the chosen Acrylic Plus Monomer. Produce a variety of finishes with the product: from a French manicure to intricate, extreme nail creations.

All four shades in the Halo Acrylic Plus Powder range are available in 150g refill pouches for £22.95 + VAT each.

Halo Acrylic Plus Liquid: Medium Speed Setting

Designed for both beginner and expert nail techs, use this monomer with your desired Acrylic Plus Powder hues to create durable enhancements with a velvety finish, reducing the amount of finish filing required. Available in three sizes, the medium speed setting allows for optimum control of the product.

APPLICATION

Preparation

Step 1 Clean the surface area and sanitise tools and hands.

Step 2 Prep the natural nail plate, ensuring all non-living tissue has been removed.

Step 3 Use the Halo Elite File in 240/240-grit to etch over the nail plate and shape the free edge.

Step 4 Apply tips or nail forms as desired and use Halo Prep & Scrub and the Halo Plush Brush to remove dust and debris from the natural nail.

Step 5 Apply Acrylic Plus Primer to the natural nail only. Wait two minutes for it to dry.

L&P Acrylic Overlay

Step 1 Dip the Halo Acrylic Brush into your chosen Acrylic Plus Liquid and pick up a large bead of Acrylic Plus Powder. Place in work zone one (the free edge, or on a form or tip) and spread evenly across the area from sidewall to sidewall.

Step 2 Work in zone two of the nail, overlapping zone one with a medium bead, and blend down into zone three.

Step 3 Pick up a small bead for the cuticle area, overlapping zone two and keeping it flush at the curves of this area.

Step 4 Using the Halo Elite File in 180/150-grit, shape the free edge and file the nail to shape.

Step 5 Use the Halo Elite Buffer in 180/240-grit to smooth the enhancements. Remove dust using the Plush Brush and Prep & Scrub.

Step 6 Apply Halo Gel Polish Base Coat, Gel Polish and Top Coat as desired.

Reverse French

Step 1 Pick up a medium bead of a cover Acrylic Plus Powder with your chosen liquid and place in zone two, creating a smile line.

Step 2 Pick up a smaller bead and overlap zone two. Pat into zone three.

Step 3 Use the Halo Elite File in 180/150-grit to refine the smile line.

Step 4 Using Acrylic Plus Powder in Pure White, place a medium bead over zone one and overlap the smile line.

Step 5 Refine the shape of the free edge and file over the nail using the Halo Elite File in 180/150-grit. Perfect the shape and buff the cuticle area flush to the nail.

Step 6 Use the Halo Elite Buffer in 180/240-grit to smooth the enhancements. Remove dust using the Halo Plush Brush and Prep & Scrub.

Step 7 Apply Halo Gel Polish Base Coat, Gel Polish and Top Coat as desired.

REMOVAL

Step 1 Using Halo Tip Cutters, cut down length that is not required.

Step 2 Use the Halo E-File or Halo Elite File in 180/150-grit to remove any gel polish and some of the bulk of the acrylic enhancement.

Step 3 Place the nails into a bowl with acetone, or wrap in acetone-soaked foils for 10 minutes.

Step 4 Use a metal tool or orange wood stick to remove the softened product from the nail plate. Repeat step 3 if required.

Step 5 Gently buff over the natural nail using the Halo Elite File in 240/240-grit and file the free edge. Buff the nail to smooth using the Halo Elite Buffer in 180/240-grit.
