My nail journey
I’ve owned my salon for 13 years, but only discovered my passion for nails during lockdown. I would practice different designs every day and try various techniques and products, before posting the looks to Instagram.
I love my salon, as it’s cosy, minimalist and full of plants. I just need to learn how to keep them alive!
Signature style
I’d describe my signature look as pretty and minimalist, with nail art often featuring flowers. Floral nail styles for summer have been some of my most popular designs on Instagram.
Social media tips
I started to notice that my work was getting a lot of interest around three years ago. I was regularly practicing designs and posting them to Instagram, and my account went from strength to strength.
My top tips are:
1. Consistently share your work.
2. Engage with other social media users.
3. Ensure your content is engaging.
A day in my life
A typical day starts with the school drop-off, then I head to the salon. I usually work from 9am to 6pm, with one late night each week until 8pm. I offer a variety of treatments, from manicures, pedicures and nail reconstruction services to HD Brows, LVL Lashes and spray tans. On the way home from work, I pick up my son, then in the evening, I create and edit social media posts.
What makes me happy
My family and friends are huge parts of my happiness. I’m extremely loyal – if you are my friend, you’ve got me for life! My husband is so supportive, always cheering me on and offering advice, and our seven-year-old son, Billy, makes me laugh every day.
Career highlights
Growing my Instagram profile is a highlight, because it has required a lot of hard work and dedication. It’s also brought opportunities my way that I wouldn’t necessarily have had otherwise. For example, I’ve appeared as a guest on podcasts, been invited to brand events and had the chance to meet many amazing nail techs.
If I had to wear one nail design forever... It would either be a timeless, sheer nude style or a classic bright red overlay.
My inspirations
I find inspiration everywhere – from colour combinations to fabrics, the seasons and work by fellow nail techs.
