Nail artist & home-based business owner, TERI RENSHAW, unveils her career goals & stylish creations
Name – Teri Renshaw
Age – 36
Business name – Phenominails
Location – Newport, Wales
Years in nails – 10
Trained with – I initially trained with Essential Nails, then broadened my skillset via courses with Artistic Nail Design and Bio Sculpture. I have also completed a variety of online nail art workshops with Gemma Lambert’s The Nail Team.
Favourite products – My core brand is Bio Sculpture, as I value its professional ethos and prescriptive products. I enjoy creating nail art designs using NAILS-LUXE brushes and Magpie Beauty’s ARTYgel paints, which are highly pigmented.
Favourite technique – I love challenging myself with various designs, particularly using the one stroke technique. And a French manicure with a crisp smile line always looks amazing!
Favourite design – Floral styles are fun to create, especially those featuring wildflowers, as I layer the colours and shapes of different petals for a pretty nail finish.
Career ambition & vision – I am passionate about promoting positivity and keen to create a community for self-employed, mobile and home-based nail technicians to share their successes. Often, if techs work from home, they may not commemorate business milestones or events, as they don’t have a team or colleagues to celebrate with. I want to build a network in my local area to change this.
Who do you admire in the industry? Kirsty Meakin and Gemma Lambert’s nail art skills inspired my career change from a chef to a nail technician. They also raise children while balancing high-profile roles, which I greatly admire. I hold Suzanne Clayton in high regard, owing to her passion for nail health and commitment to encouraging industry discussions on social media.
