Dubbed ‘the Oscars of the nail industry’, the Scratch Stars Awards returns for a 12th year, recognising excellence, passion and skill in nail pros and businesses across the UK and Ireland.

Renowned for its transparent and fair judging process, Scratch Stars titles have been awarded to 215 nail pros, salons, brands and teams to date - so could 2024 be your year to join this elite group?

There are 18 categories open to entry that cover a variety of skillsets, and eligible persons or businesses can enter up to two. The first stage requires an online form to be submitted, which will be reviewed before five finalists are unveiled in each category. They move onto a second and final judging stage, which could involve a practical competition and interview, a mystery shop or submission of evidence and testimonials, depending on the category.

The awards is focused on finding amazing all-rounders: those that exude not just skill, but dedication to their craft, great client care and industry awareness. The rewards? An exciting competition experience and opportunity to network with fellow pros, alongside admiration from clients and an enhanced profile. To top off the journey, winners receive a title, press support and a stunning Scratch Stars trophy to show off at their nail station.

THE CATEGORIES

FOR NAIL PROFESSIONALS

Who can enter? Nail technicians that have been actively working in the industry in the UK or ROI for a minimum of 12 months, and that attained a UK recognised nail qualification on or prior to 1 February 2023. Eligible nail pros can enter a maximum of two categories and must hold valid insurance at the time of entry.

THE CATEGORIES

FOR SALON OWNERS & TEAMS

Who can enter? Salon owners can select one of the three salon categories that best suit their business, but they must have been actively providing nail services from that premises for a minimum of 12 months (on or prior to 1 February 2023). Salon teams can also enter the Nail Team of the Year category, as can education, session or business collectives, as long as they have worked together on four or more occasions in the past 12 months.

STATUS AWARDS

Who can enter? These categories are open to both individual entry and nomination. Educators must have been teaching recognised courses for at least two years, while nail business mentors must have been providing services or support to nail pros, salons or the wider industry for a minimum of 12 months.

The Shooting Star Award recognises a nail tech or business that has made an impact on the sector or progress in the past year, while Services to the Nail Industry is presented to an individual or team that has supported the industry and achieved success over many years.
