Award-winning salon owner & INK London educator, VICTORIA LEIGH NELSON, lifts the lid on her career & shares her favourite nail creations
Name –
Victoria Leigh Nelson
Age – 33
Business name – Victoria Leigh Nails & Beauty
Favourite nail design – I find joy in changing nail styles and shades with the seasons, but enjoy spring most, as I can create cute floral designs. I also love the finish of a classic, crisp French manicure.
Location – Rawtenstall, Lancashire Years in nails – 14
Trained with – I attended Accrington and Rossendale College from the age of 18, studying in the evenings and at weekends to attain Levels 2 and 3 qualifications in Nail Services. I loved learning about nails, and have since completed various courses and masterclasses to enhance my skills. The nail industry changes rapidly, so it’s important to keep up-to-date with techniques and innovations.
Career ambition & vision – When I began my nail career, I worked as a self-employed tech and rented a desk in a salon. I had limited equipment and clients, but now I run my own salon and have a fantastic team working with me. I’m grateful for the freedom this affords, as I can manage the business around the needs of my family.
One of my greatest achievements is being appointed as an educator for INK London, as I love to share my knowledge and empower future nail techs.
Favourite products – My E-file supports me throughout every service; it’s my best friend at the nail desk! I’m a fan of the Stalex Pro Expert 90 Cuticle Micro Scissors – Type 1 for prep, and my chosen nail brand is INK London. I love its SOBIAB base and builder gel, Ultimate No Wipe Top Coat and the Michelangelo nail art brush, which is great for linework, including French smile lines and swirls.
Who do you admire in the industry? Nail artist, Elvira Safina (@safinailstudio), creates beautiful nail designs. I love her work and scroll through her Instagram posts daily. /victorialeighnailsandbeauty @victorialeighnailsbeauty
