December is a month of celebration, reflection and finding glitter in all sorts of places. However you commemorate the festive season, we hope you enjoy the creativity and fun it affords at the nail desk. In this issue, we share shimmering holiday hues and winter wonderland-themed designs on page 30: giving you the gift of inspiration in our selection of Christmas and party nail styles. Embrace joy and sparkle – and don’t forget to take all-important breaks in between appointments.

The Scratch team has been busy plucking industry highlights from the past 12 months, and our roundup on page 24 serves as a reminder of successes within the sector. From individuals acknowledged by the King to achievements in competitions and brand innovations, the nail world continues to delight and excite, and I’m so proud to witness it shine.

I encourage you, in between painting holly and Santa hats this month, to think about your professional highlight of 2024. Share it with your friends, colleagues and social media followers, and reward yourself with a present or luxurious treat in the new year. You deserve it.

It can be easy to become immersed in a jam-packed schedule and forget to reflect on your accolades, but it’s important for your wellbeing and future plans. As we head into 2025, carve out time to set goals to work towards and steps to help you progress. I thank our 2024 columnists for their expert advice this year: many of whom have used their final write-ups to offer practical, proven pointers to elevate your success in the next 12 months. As you flip through the pages of this issue, may you be inspired to end the year on a high and step into the new year with bold ideas, fresh techniques and a renewed passion for your craft.

I would like to recognise all who have contributed to Scratch’s content in 2024: sharing their expertise, nail techniques, handy tips and inspiring stories. I know of no other community that is as passionate and supportive, and am elated to be a part of it. The team has loved meeting so many of you at events and getting to know you via social media, and is excited to watch you achieve your goals – so make sure you share your highlights!
