Nailympia COMPETITIONS NEWS
Immerse in competition highlights, interviews & points to note from the Nailympia realm, with its global director, ALEX FOX
20 years of Nailympia 2005-2024
The fourth Nailympia Orlando has left a vibrant mark on the world of competitive nail artistry. This year’s event was exceptional, with 84 competitors filling 384 seats and representing 14 countries: Serbia, Hungary, Cuba, Aruba, Italy, Germany, France, USA, UK, Spain, Argentina, Trinidad & Tobago, Ukraine and Canada. The diverse international presence contributed to one of the most dynamic and thrilling competition floors the USA has seen in years.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and there was a strong sense of camaraderie among participants. A total of 99 medals and six trophies were awarded, underlining the high stakes and intense competition. It was truly magical to see the arena filled with so many people. Since starting this journey with Premiere Orlando in 2019, I have witnessed Nailympia’s growing popularity, as more individuals test their skills, network and showcase their creativity. I’m thrilled that we’ve reignited the competition spirit in the American nail industry. Signing up 29 judges, who were committed to overseeing the categories, was a delightful experience.
Sponsored by Aprés Nail, Glitterbels, the UK nail brand recently launched in the USA, and Americanails, who donated the desk lamps, the two-day event ran smoothly and provided a fulfilling experience for everyone involved.
A standout moment was Scratch magazine’s editorial director, Helena Biggs, managing the scoring system and hosting the first Scratch Social party. This event also saw the announcement of North America’s Star Nail Artist, an online contest for North American nail professionals, which added an extra layer of excitement.
Nailympia Orlando 2024 celebrated not just technical prowess and artistic expression, but also fostered community and professional growth among nail artists. With its increasing popularity and growing number of participants each year, Nailympia Orlando has firmly established itself as a key event in the nail industry, inspiring artists and enthusiasts worldwide.
